Links to Sites for Scientific Method

http://science.pppst.com/scientificmethod.html  This site has several good PowerPoint presentations for scientific method at different comprehension levels.  The perfect one for 207 uses rattlesnakes and is called Basic  Steps of Scientific Method.  Another favorite is called Scientific Method and it uses Gary Larson cartoons.  The slide show is used after a hands on experiment and class discussion.  The presentations make a good review for the material.

http://www.brainpop.com/science/scientificinquiry/scientificmethod/  BrainPOP is a site that has educational videos staring a teenager and his robot.  It is a classic straight man and comic partnership that the kids enjoy.  This is another method to review the steps after students have done at least two experiments using scientific method.

http://www.uga.edu/srel/kidsdoscience/kidsdoscience-methods.htm  There are two great experiments that can be done to reinforce scientific method.  One involves creating different paper airplanes. The directions are on the site and there are worksheets and lesson plans.  The other experiment has the students making helicopters and flying them.  These two experiments can be done at different times during the unit with support slowly being removed as kids become more independent with the process.
